GuardDOG ®

The GuardDOG® Occlusion System is the first guidewire-based occlusion device designed and marketed to be used during the treatment of peripheral vascular disease.
It features a 0.035" diameter guidewire that incorporates at the tip a soft, compliant, CO2-filled balloon ranging from 3 to 6 mm, providing quick inflation and deflation.
The balloon requires 0.7 atm of pressure to be inflated and the desired occlusion is easily achieved in peripheral vessels from 3 to 6 mm in diameter.
Then AngioJet® RheolyticTM Thrombectomy System and PowerPulseTM lytic drug delivery therapy prove useful for removing plaque debris.
The system can be inflated, deflated and positioned up to three times during a single procedure.
The improvements in efficiency are evident both in routine and complicated procedures.
The GuardDOG® System can be delivered to the treatment site through 0.038" diagnostic catheters.
In addition to the 0.0035" GuardDOG device, Possis Medical is now developing a 0.014" version of the device.
