SINUS
It is a self-expanding stent made of a nickel-titanium (Nitinol) alloy. The stent
has no filament crossing, no sharp edges and is MR compatible.
A micromesh design allows high vessel coverage. The stent is semi flexible
with a high radial force and presents two different configurations, cylindrical
and conical. The conical stent is fit for vessels with extreme variations in
diameter.
The delivery system (135 cm) is based on a very low-profile (2.7 Fr) device
with a nitinol core to grant high pushability and kink resistance. The system is
based on a rapid-exchange technology working on a 0.014" platform with a
flexible, atraumatic tip that reduces vessel irritation.
The 5 Fr braided sheath reduces friction and allows an easy stent deployment.
It requires a minimum 5 Fr introducer sheath (1.66 mm) or 7 Fr guiding
catheter (2.33 mm).
"Anti-jump technique" allows accurate placement without stent jumping.
The stent deployment is performed with a coaxial pull-back system with a very
low friction; once deployment is started the stent cannot be repositioned or
recaptured. Platinum markers placed on the device make the correct
deployment of the stent easy and safe.
In addition no stent foreshortening is reported.
