TWIN ONE
This protection device is designed to protect the brain circulation from plaque
debris during angioplasty performed before or after stent deployment.
It is characterized by two distinct balloons inflatable through two separate
working channels: a distal compliant occlusion balloon, 7mm in diameter, is for
flow occlusion while a proximal balloon is a standard angioplasty balloon
available in two different sizes: 6 x 20mm and 5 x 15mm fit for dilating the
stenotic portion of the stent.
After stent deployment, the guiding catheter is advanced into the stent, the
guide-wire is removed and all the system is placed within the stent. Then the
occlusion balloon is inflated, distally to the stent, to block the antegrade blood
flow.
Once the carotid occlusion has been verified with contrast injection, the
angioplasty balloon is inflated at the level of the lesion.
After PTA the working site is cleaned from debris aspirated through the
catheter lumen. Once all blood is removed, the occlusion balloon is deflated
and the entire system removed.
