ViVEXX

It is a self-expanding, nitinol (nickel-titanium alloy) stent that expands to its real diameter upon exposure to body temperature.
The stent presents an open cell geometry with flared ends to help prevent migration or dislocation.
As a minimum foreshortening of the stent is reported, the length of the compressed stent is virtually equivalent to the length of the expanded stent. Vivexx is available both in cylindrical and tapered configurations.
This stent is pre-mounted on a 5 Fr rapid-exchange delivery system, with a working length of 135cm, on a 0.014" platform. A minimum 7 Fr. guiding catheter or a 5Fr introducer sheath is required.
Four different stent deployment options are available with the S.A.F.E. delivery system and with the PerforMAXX Grip:

- Trigger method: the stent is deployed by pumping the trigger of the handle. It offers micro-clicks for an excellent control (2mm at a time).
- Slide method: the stent can be deployed by pulling back the slide mechanism
- Combined method (Trigger/Side): this method utilizes the "Trigger method" until the stent has achieved wall apposition and then the "Slide method" to complete the deployment.
- Conventional method: the catheter is snapped out of the PerforMAXX Grip and the stent can be deployed using a conventional "pin & pull" technique.

The delivery system also features a next generation "StentLoc" mechanism that uses compression along the entire length of the stent to prevent unintentional movement or misplacement during the deployment phase.
The Vivexx carotid stent has been determined to be MR-safe when used in shielded MR system with 3T magnetic field, 7.2 T/m spatial gradient and a whole body averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) of maximum 3.0 W/Kg for 15 minutes of imaging.
The stent is also MR-compatible using 3T MR system with T1-weighted spin echo and gradient echo pulses.
